The exam rooms and kitchen floors are complete, AND THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL, WAIT 'TILL YOU SEE. Terry Daniels, Rob Cox, Richard Kossman, Mark Thomasson and a couple of other men whose names I do not know, did a wonderful job. Of course this was Terry's project from the beginning and let me tell you, he mothered through the end; was here everyday. I saw him on his hands and knees more than any man I know!! We are so grateful and you cannot believe how it enhances the place. Kathy Barnard indicated the other evening that it already had paybacks. They were working on a wound and managed to spill Bentadine on the floor. Had that been the carpet, it would have been there forever, but because of the tile, it wiped right up and no one can tell where it happened!! AMAZING.
NOW FOR OTHER AMAZING NEWS!! WE ARE IN THE DENTAL
BUSINESS - OR WILL BE.
The Board of Directors was presented with an
opportunity to lease the vacated building of Dr. Herminia Rodriguez, dentist;
she donated the entire contents of the facility to Good Samaritan. The rent
will be 750.00/month, plus electricity and disposables, phone, etc. WE ARE
HAVING A CLEAN/PAINT DAY JULY 18TH. The address is 1245 S. Volusia Avenue, at
the corner of Rhode Island and Volusia in Orange City, and across the street
from Blue Spring Car Wash. Our goal is to open the middle of August.
Qualifying for patients will be
the same; this is part of Good Samaritan. I whine about needing more space here
(we have 2700 sq. ft.), however when I walked in there I was more appreciative.
There is 1000 Sq. ft. at the Orange City location. We will need 1
dentist, 1 chair side assistant, and 1 reception person, so I am again
recruiting. Of course chair side assistants have to have experience, but
reception will work the same as here. Please get the word out. We want to be
open Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
We will hopefully start a new campaign with our churches. We have dropped in numbers of churches that support us this year and I know it is the economy, however with the Lord leading us to take on this new project, we will be looking at more ways to get money. Our fundraiser this year will again be in October, the team is already working on it. If you know of a bigger place, perhaps somewhere between DeLand and Orange City, please let us know. We need to get the word out there in Orange City now. I am thinking of a flyer for businesses??? any other ideas? Let us know.
Just to bring you up to date: OUR FUNDRAISER THIS YEAR WILL BE THURSDAY OCTOBER 29TH, 6:30 P.M., STETSON BAPTIST CHURCH-FAMILY LIFE CENTER.
Our theme and it WILL BE FUN IS HAWAIIAN. WE are encouraging all of our volunteers to wear bright long dresses, or something bright. We are shooting for 400 people this year THAT'S TWICE WHAT WE HAD LAST YEAR (220).
The reason for this bigger campaign is because WE ARE BIGGER. Our dental clinic hopefully will open on September 1. For the first time we will be paying rent. $750.00/month and of course the regular electric, phone, etc.etc.etc., plus I've been told that dental disposables are very expensive. Anyway, all of our bills have doubled so we will have to be more aggressive in our fundraising. Please consider hosting a table. That just means that you will find 6 other people to sit with you.(tables will hold 8). Food will be hawaiian flavor and all decorations will be hawaiian. Kendra Cox and her team have an amazing theme going.
We will again have baskets which we will raffle off also. Anyway FUN TIMES FOR EVERYONE. MARK YOU CALENDAR.
NOW REGARDING THE DENTAL CLINIC:
LOCATION: 1245 S. Volusia Avenue, Orange City,FL. Our open date is set for the first of September. Hours of operation will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. If you know of anyone who would like to volunteer there, please please let me know. Also, to keep you in the loop, qualifying for the dental clinic will be the same as for the medical clinic; we are all one entity so these types of things stay the same. If you've qualified at the medical clinic you are automatically qualified for the dental clinic and vice-versa. We have a really good team working down there right now. Chantell Martin and Martha Aldrich along with Dr. Michael Kelly are keeping things humming. An open house for board of directors and dentists is planned for August 20, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.
I'm attaching the schedule again. Please have a look again. Things are a bit sketchy starting with the end of August. Any help is always always appreciated.
Thank you so much. Mary Gusky
